Innogie AlienPower Battery Bank Review!

Technology ReviewsTrustmacintosh1 Comment

AlienPower is definitely a solid external battery for those who demand more from their devices.

I'm currently using an iPhone 5S as my daily driver and this external battery is capable of re-charging my device several times through out the week. At first I bought a 3200mah battery back thinking that smaller is always better but to my surprise something in the mid-range was vastly superior.

Now, I simply charge the battery pack once a week and simply use it when I need more juice.

Anyways, here's my video review of the product. Enjoy!

An affordable battery pack from Innogie, designed for road warriors. Rounders Review!

Kim GarciaComment

ROUNDERS

Recently, I’ve grown to appreciate the game of Poker. I watched Rounders when I didn’t know much about the game, and wasn’t entirely open to learning. However, upon finishing this movie, it sparked an interest I couldn’t ignore.

Rounders will take you on a journey that’s filled with adrenaline. You’ll feel like an active participant, trying to guess and anticipate every move in every poker game. Matt Damon who plays Mike McDerrmoot (the lead character), is a skilled poker player who makes a few life-changing decisions, and not entirely for the better.

Of course, some of these decisions are influenced by his pal, Lester “Worm” Murphy, a character played by Edward Norton. While “Worm” is the bad apple who is impressively reckless, he’s also extremely likable. He brings humor and demands some of our sympathy.

Mike McDerrmoot makes sacrifices for the love of the game, and the question of whether these sacrifices were worth it will echo throughout the film.

If you aren’t familiar with the game of Poker, this film will bring light to many aspects of the game. You’ll come to learn that Poker doesn’t depend solely on luck, but on skill. You’ll also learn that the game can be dangerously addictive, emphasis on the danger  (so, don’t play poker with your crazy uncle). Essentially, the gambling experience will always make emotions run rampant, and this film, perfectly portrays the dark and violet side that can unleash with one wrong move.

In spite of this, the biggest questions arise with Mike McDerrmoot.

What was he meant to do?

Did he choose poker, or did poker choose him?

American Psycho Review

Movie ReviewsKim GarciaComment

American Psycho

I watched this movie years ago and it has stayed with me ever since. Based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis, American Psycho approaches mental illness in a way that is... unorthodox. You’ll find yourself in a state of perplexity and wonder as the story unravels and reveals what can be perceived as deep societal flaws.

While your brain works overtime to try to answer the question that keeps popping up in your head, “What the hell is going on?” you wonder if the mentally ill Patrick Bateman played by Christian Bale is indeed.. just mentally ill, or is he on to something?

Before I dive any deeper into this mind numbing, but brilliant film, Christian Bale deserves some much deserved praise for his performance in American Psycho. I can’t imagine anyone else playing Patrick Bateman. Personally, I believe that great acting comes down to the little details, and here, Christian Bale makes every second count! (It doesn’t hurt that he’s good looking, too).

Films that keep you guessing and force you to enter a part of your brain that’s unfamiliar are worth watching. American Psycho is exceptional for a list of reasons, but primarily for it’s ability to make you THINK.

If you’re looking for a popcorn movie, this is not it (although popcorn tastes great with any movie). I will warn you however, this film relies heavily on satire. It’s abundant in dark humor and there will be times where you might experience some visual discomfort, but it’s worth every bit of it. The standard for creativity is evidently high, the film is executed brilliantly, and it successfully leaves you with something many modern movies rarely leave you with: enlightened.

MOVIE RATING:

9.2

Go ahead and watch the film. Do you think Christian Bale is simply an american psycho, or is he on to something? What do you think of the ending?

WHIPLASH Movie Review!

"There are no two words in the english language more harmful than “good job" -Fletcher

No matter who you are, this movie will hit you - like a bag of bricks, on the face, like five times. This film is deserving of much praise for its outstanding execution in every area. Miles Teller who plays Andrew Neiman reaches what appears to be his acting threshold and then proceeds to rise higher and higher above it. Now, let’s not forget the unbelievable performance by the incredible J.K Simmons who plays terrifying, don’t-wanna-mess-with, possibly psychotic, Terence Fletcher! There’s a reason J.K Simmons won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for this role, and this reason runs for 1 hour and 47 minutes. This film definitely sets the standard.

In this film, Andrew Neiman is a talented Jazz drummer aspiring to be the best. In order to be the best, you need to be trained by one of the best, Terence Fletcher. Unfortunately, this comes at a cost. An emotionally distressing, physically damaging, and life-changing cost. Neiman finds himself faced with his greatest challenge yet and we witness every teary, bloody, and sweaty moment.

Something that particularly impressed me about this film was the flawless presentation. The minor details easily become impactful. A sweat drop slowly gliding down a persons face, the utter silence exploding with suspense, the slow formation of a smile, etc. The camera focuses on the details and makes them big, powerful, moments. Damien Chazelle (the director and writer), hats off to you for your remarkable work on Whiplash!

This film carries the gift to induce an array of emotions within its audience. The journey this film will take you on isn’t a simple one, as it appears, but it’s actually an emotionally complex one. If you watch and listen closely, you’ll realize that this film isn’t just about a drummer boy trying to be a great drummer that happens to have a “mean” instructor. No. This film is about...life.

This movie easily makes it to my Top Five!

Ultimate Minimalist Desktour 2015!

Technology ReviewsTrustmacintosh2 Comments

Since beginning my youtube channel 4 years ago, I've created a tradition of making one desktour per year. And now it was time to create a new one for this year.

I've bought several new Tech items but kept the overall theme of simplicity, which is the most important thing for me.

The only item that hasn't changed in all 4 previous desktour is my Mac mini. Which has aged a bit and only lags with graphically intense tasks. But overall it's performing like a champ.

For the future, I hope to upgrade to the base model Mac Pro which should be enough for video editing and the occasional game I play. So, I better start saving all my pennies.

Anyways, here's the desktour 2015 video down below! Enjoy!

Here's all the links mentioned in the video. Including past reviews for each product individually along with all past Desktours videos and Amazon links to every product shown. Check Links down below!
